Education Services

North Fulton Community Charities believes that the education services we provide will help participants move toward financial stability, find better jobs, and become stronger leaders within their families, and active participants within their community. Classes are free and open to the public.

Classes are offered in the following categories:

Money Management: A required class for further assistance at NFCC. These two hour workshops focus on helping participants understand budgeting basics, setting spending priorities and learning to live on a limited income while planning for future emergencies. In addition, personal financial coaching is also offered.  This is a one-on-one session with an expert financial coach. Learn how to create a working budget and a target budget, manage spending, understand your credit report, and become money smart.

GED Tutoring & Test Preparedness: For individuals 18 years of age or older who have not graduated from an accredited high school or received a high school equivalency certificate, our volunteer GED instructors help participants prepare to take the state GED test. Tutoring sessions and practice sessions are available three times a week (Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Monday & Wednesday mornings).

Family Strengthening: Seminars and workshops to help participants improve their lives. This does include one-on-one family and individual counseling and therapy sessions. These sessions are offered once a month to help you deal with personal issues including depression, divorce, addiction, relationships, and overall wellness.

Classes en Español: Designed to help immigrants living in the North Fulton area improve family life and civic understanding, workshops and classes are offered for personal and job related enrichment. Classes include English as a Second Language, Budgeting and Credit Counseling, Steps to Citizenship, Parenting, Health and Wellness.

Health and Wellness: Activities and workshops designed to help participants take responsibility for the health of themselves and their families. This includes health days, screenings, and flu clinics.

Career Services: Job Readiness Training is available through individual coaching sessions or our two hour job searching class.  These services are designed to help the job seeker with resume building, interviewing, and online job searches to help become a better candidate. In addition, computer training is offered from understanding the basics to using MS Excel, the internet, and other popular software applications.

Legal Matters: Understanding your legal rights and how your city government works, where to get affordable legal advice, and why to get a Will. These legal matter workshops are offered to provide participants with the confidence they need to navigate through the legal and public safety systems.

Workshops and classes are offered at various times throughout the week and Saturdays to enable working individuals and parents to attend. Child care is provided onsite at no cost for some classes. This provides parents with a safe and secure environment for their children while they focus on improving the family’s future.
