Education Services
North Fulton Community Charities believes that the education services we provide will help participants move toward financial stability, find better jobs, and become stronger leaders within their families, and active participants within their community.
Free classes are offered in the following categories:
Money Management: A required class for further assistance at NFCC. These one hour workshops focus on helping participants understand budgeting basics, setting spending priorities and learning to live on a limited income while planning for future emergencies.
GED Tutoring & Preparedness: For individuals 18 years of age or older who have not graduated from an accredited high school or received a high school equivalency certificate, our volunteer GED instructors help participants prepare to take the state GED test. Tutoring sessions and practice sessions are available once a week.
Family Strengthening: A variety of classes to help participants improve their lives. Classes include; Positive Parenting, Reading and Writing Better, Learning English, Tutoring school aged Children, Understanding your Community Resources, and more.
Classes en Español: Designed to help immigrants living in the North Fulton area improve family life and civic understanding, workshops and classes are offered for personal and job related enrichment. Classes include English as a Second Language, Budgeting and Credit Counseling, Steps to Citizenship, Parenting, Health and Wellness.
Health and Wellness: Activities and workshops designed to help participants take responsibility for the health of themselves and their families. Learning to Eat Healthy on a Limited Income, Keeping Children Healthy, and Understanding your Healthcare Rights and Options are some of the topics.
Computer Classes: Computer training is offered from understanding the basics to using MS Excel, the internet, and other popular software applications.
Legal Matters: Understanding your legal rights and how your city government works, where to get affordable legal advice, and why to get a Will. These legal matter workshops are offered to provide participants with the confidence they need to navigate through the legal and public safety systems.
Workshops and classes are offered at various times throughout the week and Saturdays to enable working individuals and parents to attend. Child care is provided onsite at no cost for some classes. This provides parents with a safe and secure environment for their children while they focus on improving the family’s future.
