Stamp Out Hunger For Our Neighbors

Saturday May 12 is “Stamp our Hunger” Day. Mail Carriers all over the country will collect non-perishables placed by your mailbox and deliver them to the local food pantry.

The following are most needed: Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tuna, Mac & Cheese, Cereal, canned Fruit, Soups, Pasta Sauce and Diapers (size 4-5-6). No glass items please.

Easter Blessings

Thank you to the hundreds of NFCC supporters who donated Easter baskets and supplies, and volunteered their time during our Easter Basket Distribution. Our shelves were packed with colorful baskets of various shapes and sizes. Together we helped over 936 children enjoy the surprises and blessings of Easter traditions. Baskets were distributed to over 400 families during the first week of April. Restless children, out of school during Spring Break, watched with anticipation as volunteers brought out each bag. Parents struggled to keep the baskets away from eager little hands as they maneuvered through the lobby and parking lot. It was a week of many Easter blessings.

Home Ownership…First Time Buyer’s Dream

NFCC and a local Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., chapter have partnered with Wells Fargo to offer a first time home buyers free seminar on Saturday, June 2nd from 11:30-1:00. This program will help new buyers learn how to navigate the home buying process.

April “Showers…” Bring Available Classes

You asked…We responded! The Education Center is launching its April calendar that includes: Introduction to Computers, Using Spanish in the Workplace, expanded Job Coaching Sessions and Government Benefit Screening, and NEW….YMCA Sponsored Parenting Classes.

In addition, the summer English program begins with registration on Monday, April 30th or Wednesday, May 2nd from 5-7. This twelve week course will meet every Monday and Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.

GED Tutoring and Test Preparation continues every Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-7:30 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 10:00-12:30 p.m. This program is only available for adults 18 years and older.

Our newest partnership is working with the YMCA to provide caregiver training to the Latino community. This thirteen week course helps families, friends and neighbors learn how to prepare children ages 0-5 for entry into kindergarten.

NFCC’s Food Pantry is filled with over 800 colorful baskets for our families in need. Distribution begins next week and we expect to provide every deserving child with the joy of Easter. We want to thank all of our donors and volunteers who assisted in collecting and assembling baskets.
