NFCC Have A Heart Campaign is Off To A Great Start

NFCC has officially launched the “Have A Heart for NFCC” campaign. With several public and private parties and support from local businesses and restaurants, we are well underway to achieve the goal of $200,000.

The purpose of this month long event is to secure much needed funds to support our programs while increasing the awareness of the needs of our families. We need the help of the entire community to assist our neighbors in need. “When I starting volunteering a couple of years ago, I had no idea how NFCC would change my life. Today, NFCC continues to bless me so much more than I could ever give. Choose to make a difference and see how it will change your life,” said Mary Good, Event Co-Chair.

Free Tax Services

NFCC is once again partnering with Atlanta Prosperity Campaign to provide free tax preparation services to our North Fulton community.

Beginning in February, we will offer free Tax Return services for households earning less than $49,000. As part of the Vita Tax network of mobile sites, tax returns are completed by tax professionals trained by the IRS. Plan now to get your tax return completed early. Dates include:

February 9th 12:00-6:00 pm

February 21th 12:00-6:00 pm

March 15th 10:00 am -3:00 pm

March 17th 10:00 am -2:00 pm

March 27th 2:00-7:00 pm

Family Enrichment Program Is Getting A “New Lease” On Life

NFCC’s Family Enrichment Program (FEP) HAS MOVED (11255 Elkins Road) directly across the street from our current NFCC offices and Thrift Store. Being in its own facility, the FEP will better meet the needs of our community and the families we serve, by creating more class offerings, scheduling, and services. In addition, new volunteer opportunities will be created as we look for support and instructors to help administer daily operations in the new facility.

2011 Holiday Program Helps Over 3,500 Children

The Holiday Program wrapped up on December 22nd, as our last parents selected toys, bikes and gifts for their children at our distribution site. Once again, our North Fulton community generously supported families in-need during the holiday season. We at NFCC were amazed at how much you gave of your time, your donations, and your financial support.

Together we provided 1,279 families and seniors, including 3,500 children, with the resources to celebrate the holidays. How much did your help mean to them? The first parent in line for Family Sponsorship camped out before midnight the night before. The first parent in line for Santa Shop actually got there the day before at 1:00pm, while we were still setting up.

For many of these parents, the greatest gift you provided them was hope and love when they needed it most. As one tearful parent said, “I didn’t expect to be able to celebrate Christmas with my children in such a wonderful way. You have blessed us in a way that I will never forget and could never repay.” On behalf of all of us at NFCC and the families we serve, thank you for recognizing the need and for helping us make a difference in our world one family at a time.

Be The Change…In Someone’s Life

NFCC assists families who live in the local community (Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park and Roswell) with emergency needs. We are able to this due to the tremendous support from our community partners: faith organizations, civic groups, businesses, individuals and families.

• General: NFCC currently sees an average of 115 families per day for food and/or financial assistance.
• Food Pantry: NFCC distributes 9 tons of food and staple goods each week.
• Financial Assistance: In FY’2011, NFCC provided $1,116,000 in financial assistance and assisted 5,089 families. This is direct aid for rent, utilities, medical expenses, transportation and other basic needs on an emergency basis.
• Thrift Shop: In FY’2011, our Thrift Shop provided $292,000 in free clothing and other household items to our clients.

With the holiday season approaching, families continue to struggle to meet the daily financial demands. A donation of $100.00 would help to keep someone warm during this holiday season.

We are excited to announce that NFCC will celebrate February as Have A Heart for NFCC month.

Promotions and activities planned throughout February will raise both funding and awareness in our community. Our goal is to raise $200,000. To achieve this ambitious goal, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Here are some suggestions about how YOU can Have a Heart for NFCC during February.

Host a party in your home, invite your friends, and provide insight about the financial needs of NFCC.
Ask your church or synagogue to promote this campaign during the month of February.
Donate a percentage of your business proceeds on February 14th or 29th to NFCC.
Post an announcement in your February business, personal or community newsletter that February is Have a Heart for NFCC month and ask people to join you in donating or match your donation.
Announce the campaign on your social media outlets throughout the month.
Challenge a business competitor, bordering neighborhood, church or organization to see who can raise the most money for NFCC in February.
DONATE $20 or more to NFCC to celebrate someone you love at www.heartfornfcc.org. Your donation can help us fill up OUR heart!
