Benefit Screening

Every 2nd Monday,  10:00-4:00 pm (No Appointment Required-Open to the Public)

Come get screened for free to find out if you qualify for public benefits to help supplement your income and put money back in your pocket. For example: Food Stamps, Medicaid for kids & pregnant women, Energy Assistance, WIC, TANF and Subsidized Child Care.

Learn English as a Second Language

How will this class help you? This class focuses on grammar, vocabulary and conversation for people who need to improve their ability to speak English. Classes are designed for beginners to advanced students. Participants will be tested at the first class to determine their placement. This is a thirteen week course that meets twice a week, Mondays  and Wednesdays.

Learn Spanish -  How to Effectively Communicate Today!

Tuesday,February 7th, 5:30-7:30 pm

How will this class help you? This eight week class will meet once a week and will have you speaking Spanish right away. Using bite-sized terms and phrases, easy phonetic pronunciations, and everyday expressions that will have you  communicating with Latino clients, customers or co-workers.  Classes are designed for beginners to advanced students. Volunteers at NFCC will especially benefit from this class.  This is a eight week course that meets once a week, every Thursday.

How will this class help you? Learn how to complete a job application, prepare a good resume, develop a personal action plan, and feel confident during an interview. Receive expert advice on how to impress a potential employer and what not to do. All participants are invited to schedule one-on-one job coaching for personalized help with skills assessment, completing applications, on-line job searching, and more.

One on One Job Coaching

Every Thursday, 10:30-12:30 pm

Individual coaching sessions are desgined to help the job seeker learn skill assessments, online job searching, resume  building and interviewing techniques.  Appointments are required. These one hour sessions will assist you in becoming a better job candidate.

Computer Training

Introduction to Computers & The Internet

Monday & Tuesday,  February 13-14 & 20-21, 9:30-1:30 pm (Optional Lab: 11:30-1:30 pm)

How will this class help you?  With hands on learning through real world activites, this class will introduce you to PC components, Windows 7, and searching the Internet. You will learn how to manage files and folders, search for content, customize system settings, and more. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

GED Tutoring and Test Preparedness

Every Tuesday & Thursday Evenings,  5:00-7:30 pm &  Wednesday Morning, 10:00-12:30 pm (Ongoing)

Who is Eligible? Anyone who has not graduated from an accredited high school or received a high school equivalency certificate. Anyone who is not currently enrolled in high school and individuals who are who at least 18 years of age.

How will we help you? We begin with an assessment of your knowledge by giving you a practice test, just like the GED test. A personal plan is developed by our volunteer GED instructors to help you know what to expect and what areas need improvement.  Individualized tutoring and basic skills training is provided every Tuesday until you feel confident to take the test.

Why get your GED? Many jobs require at least a high school diploma or GED certificate. With a GED, you are able to continue your education. Grants and scholarships may be available through the HOPE grant and other federally funded programs after obtaining your GED and applying to a technical or trade school.
