Individual Volunteer Opportunities
We encourage individuals to volunteer at NFCC, offering them a rewarding experience as they serve those in need living in our community. The following are some ways you may become involved at NFCC through volunteering. For more information on the following, contact Kevin Tracy at ktracy@nfcchelp.org or call 678.387.4464.
Food Pantry: Volunteers are needed to receive and sort food donations, stock shelves and distribute food to our clients. These volunteers are encouraged to work a four hour morning or afternoon shift once per week. Substitutes are also needed. Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Reception Desk: Volunteers are needed for registering clients, answering telephones, data entry, filing and assisting with special mailings. Food Pantry shifts and hours of operation apply.
Bilingual Help: Spanish speaking volunteers are needed on a regular basis at the reception desk and for our special programs.
Thrift Shop: Volunteers are needed to receive donations, sort donations, stock and staff the Thrift Shop. Volunteer hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 -8:00 pm and Saturday 9:30-8:00pm.
Pick ups: Volunteers are needed to pick up day old and recovered food from area grocery stores and restaurants on a regular basis or to fill in as a substitute. Occasionally we will need assistance with pick-ups of large food drives or special donations.
Special Programs: Volunteers are needed to help with the special programs for families at NFCC. These programs include Easter Baskets, Back to School, Warm Coat Day, and the Holiday Program. Specific information concerning volunteer opportunities for these will be available closer to the date of the actual program.
Financial Support: At times NFCC will have a senior or family with long term monetary needs due to illness or disability. Volunteering to be a sponsor may include assisting with rent for a specified time, covering the cost of special medicines or helping with other monthly needs that cannot be met by other resources. Direct contact with the senior or family may or may not be recommended. Decisions are made on a case by case basis.
