FAQs
We have recurring opportunities in our thrift shop, food pantry, intake desk, general office and education center. In addition, we have flexible opportunities that don’t require a commitment with our seasonal assistance programs, events and special projects.
Many of our volunteer positions require a weekly commitment. If you can’t commit to a weekly shift, you can opt to volunteer on an occasional basis with our seasonal programs, events and special projects.

Closed-toed shoes are a must! Wear comfortable, modest clothing. You may get a little bit dirty, so plan accordingly. We have gloves if you ask for them. We will give you a name tag and a volunteer T-shirt after you establish a volunteer schedule.
You may bring a water bottle and a snack, if you wish. Please do not bring valuables or large purses/backpacks. We do not have secure storage and cannot be responsible for your personal items.
If volunteering at the thrift shop or food pantry, park in the upper lot to the left of the parking lot entrance. If space isn’t available, you can park anywhere in the front parking area. Please stay out of the gated area and anywhere marked “Staff.” If volunteering at the Barbara Duffy Center (11275 Elkins Road), you can park in the back or front parking lot. If no space is available, please park in our thrift parking lot.
We are unable to accept any volunteers under the age of 13. Individuals younger than 13 may get involved through projects at home. Teens 13-15 can volunteer with a parent or adult representative present at all times. Teens 16 and older can volunteer alone, with a parent signature on our waiver. Teens need to be scheduled and cannot just come with you during your shift.
