Opportunities for Students

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at North Fulton Community Charities. NFCC Offices and volunteer requests are currently closed for the Holidays.  Our site will resume accepting volunteering requests on Thursday, January 2, 2020. Please check back then.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students are typically assigned to work in the Thrift Shop but occasionally student shifts are available in the food pantry. You could be sorting donations, counting goods, stocking shelves and general help like moving items, cleaning etc. 

A waiver signed by your parents for all students under 18 years of age. Bring your phone, but try not to bring other valuables as we don’t have room to store your belongings.

Wear modest comfy clothes that can get dirty and allow you to bend over.  Shorts are fine. No short shorts or spaghetti straps.  No flip-flops or sandals. Closed-toed shoes (like sneakers) are required.

If you are volunteering in Childcare, please go to 11275 Elkins Road, and let the front desk know you are there to help with Childcare. If you are volunteering in Thrift, please go to 11270 Elkins Road. For Thrift, on weekdays, enter through the Food Pantry door on the left side of the building. At the desk, ask for Jessica Heidish. For Thrift on Saturdays enter through the front Thrift Store doors and ask for Vipal Sharma

Maybe.  We have limited student spots.  Please email and get permission FIRST.  They may be turned away at the door if they are not on our list of approved volunteers for the day.  Groups are scheduled differently, submit a group request online.  We only allow high school student groups.  No one under 13 may volunteer at any time.

You must stay at least 2 hours.  If you want to stay longer than your shift, just ask when you arrive. Most of the time, it’s fine.

If only a signature is needed on a form you bring, just ask a site manager to do so while you are here.

Yes! But after your shift.

Please never give out your personal information while here and never give anyone else a ride when you leave unless you knew them before you arrived.

Hours are not valid for court-related community service through Volunteer Services.  For that, please complete this form.
