Creating more opportunities for NFCC GED graduates to continue learning, growing and building toward financial stability.
Graduation is a big moment. It represents hard work, perseverance and a new beginning.
At NFCC, we’re fortunate to see those moments firsthand as students complete our GED program. Last spring, 12 students earned their GEDs, and four received scholarships to continue their education.
We celebrated every one of them. And it also left us thinking about an important question:
What comes next?
For one graduate, the answer might be college. For another, it could be technical training, learning a skilled trade or earning a professional certification that opens the door to a new career.
Whatever that next step looks like, we want more of our graduates to have the opportunity to take it.
That’s why we created Beyond NFCC Scholar.
More Than a Scholarship
Beyond NFCC Scholar is designed to help our GED graduates continue building toward greater financial stability through education and training.
And we’re intentionally thinking beyond the traditional idea of a scholarship. Support could help a graduate pursue college or continuing education, technical training, a skilled trade or a professional certification.
Because there isn’t one path forward that works for everyone.
Just as importantly, we want to continue walking alongside our scholars. Through regular check-ins, connections to resources and ongoing support, our team can stay connected as graduates navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with taking that next step.
Our goal is simple: give our graduates the best possible opportunity to succeed.
And We Already Have Some Exciting News
As we begin building Beyond NFCC Scholar, an anonymous donor has stepped forward with an incredible investment in our graduates.
Every gift to Beyond NFCC Scholar will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.
That means a $25 gift becomes $50. A $100 gift becomes $200. And with the support of our community, this generous commitment could become $100,000 invested in what comes next for NFCC graduates.
Last spring, we were able to provide scholarships to four of our 12 GED graduates.
We want to be able to invest in all of them.
Beyond NFCC Scholar is one way we can continue living our mission to ease hardship and foster financial stability while creating more opportunities for our neighbors to build the futures they envision for themselves.
Graduation isn’t the finish line.
It’s where what’s next begins.
