Job and Financial Coaching
The Workforce Development Center at NFCC provides services to help participants improve employment prospects and financial stability.
Workshops
NFCC workshops are opportunities for participants to learn new skills and network with fellow job seekers while building connections and accessing job opportunities.
Our workshops feature professionals from a variety of disciplines who volunteer their time to share expertise in personal financial management, career industry trends, as well as provide tools to help participants align financial and career goals.
Our workshops focus on both financial and career topics and often include activities that encourage goal setting and self-reflection. Participants gain insight into personal strengths, interests, and values.
November 18, 2024 6:00 – 7:30 pm – Budget & Cash Flow Management Workshop, Barbara Duffy Center classroom
Budgeting has gotten a reputation for being restrictive and inflexible. However, a budget is simply a spending plan for everything you want to do with your money — pay off debt, save for emergencies, build that dream retirement. A realistic budgeting system is a helpful roadmap to your goals. This workshop is a great way to learn how to create a budget and make wise spending decisions.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
- Identify your financial values so you can make decisions that align with those values;
- Set SMART financial goals that include costs, timeframes and how much your goals will cost you per paycheck.
- Understand the components of a budget (net income, expenses, and money for spending later);
- Track your expenses
- Plan and pay for irregular expenses like birthdays, Christmas, and car maintenance;
- Create an emergency savings plan for rainy days;
- Create and manage savings for goals like vacations and fun things
