Become a Volunteer Tutor, Coach, or Presenter at NFCC
NFCC’s Education and Workforce Development programs help our neighbors reach their academic, financial, and career goals. To sustain these programs, we need dedicated volunteers willing to serve as GED tutors, career and financial coaches, and presenters. In each role, our volunteers have the privilege of walking alongside our neighbors in their journey toward a stronger future.
About GED Tutors
NFCC’s GED program provides online curricula tailored to students’ needs. Tutors work in a small group setting to support students, offering guidance, study tips, and test-taking strategies. Although tutors are not expected to be subject matter experts, they will play an active role in a student’s progress. NFCC provides training and support, so each tutor has educational and interpersonal tools to assist students on their path to graduation.
Please Note: Tutors must be at least 21 years of age and have a college degree. We ask that tutors commit to at least two evening shifts per month.
About Career & Financial Coaches and Presenters
Our Workforce Development program provides workshops and coaching focused on helping adults achieve their financial, career, and business or entrepreneurial goals. Presenters offer 1-2 hour workshops on a variety of career or financial topics. Coaches are matched with individual participants and work together on a weekly or monthly basis to help them achieve a specific financial or career goal.
Please Note: Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and have a college degree. NFCC provides coaches with orientation and training. We ask that coaches and presenters have expertise that can be tailored to workshops and coaching needs, as well as the ability to manage online and/or in-person sessions. In this role, having some schedule flexibility is very helpful to maintain the coach/participant relationship.
Next Steps...
Please complete the Volunteer Instructor Application. and schedule Volunteer Orientation. Once orientation is completed, our volunteer manager will reach out to review your interests, skills and availability and go over the next steps.
